Since its inception, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. has as a mechanism to deliver services to the general community. Rather than gaining skills to be utilized exclusively for themselves and their immediate families, the founders of Phi Beta Sigma held a deep conviction that they should return their newly acquired skills to the communities from which they had come. This deep conviction was mirrored in the Fraternity's motto, "Culture For Service and Service For Humanity".
Our enduring motto is the embodiment of their vision, fortitude and dedication. It has also defined our role as leaders in helping mankind for the common good. While we must continue to build on the legacy, we must also offer support, growth and development our economy.
The Gamma Eta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Tampa Alumni Chapter, believes that the improvement and economic conditions of minorities is a major fact in the improvement of the general welfare of society. It is upon this conviction our Bigger and Better Business Program rests. Since 1924, Phi Beta Sigma as a way of supporting, fostering, and promoting minority owned businesses and services has sponsored the Bigger and Better Business Program in the Tampa Bay area. Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Tampa Alumni Chapter has a strong community partnership with Jobing.com and supporting the Job Fair collaboration. The purposes of the program are:
1. The make surveys of business conditions on a community basis and to provide for the wide dissemination of the findings through printed reports, forums and lectures.
2. To assist with small business with there move to e-business in order to compete in today market place.
3. To develop programs to focus on two important topics of interest: Financial Management and Home Ownership.
Project Seed
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Tampa Alumni Chapter has a partnership with CDC of Tampa, Inc. as part of the Sigma Economic Empowerment Development Project (Project S.E.E.D.) which a Bigger & Better Business program developed to focus on two important topics of interest: Financial Management and Home Ownership. This international focus provides useful information in each area that benefits the Phi beta Sigma membership, our families, and the communities in which we live. Project S.E.E.D. is designed to be implemented at all organizational levels by alumni and collegiate chapters. Each of the program’s components is economically viable and relevant current concern of our membership. For college students today, financial management is a vital and necessary skill to be mastered in the new millennium. With the rising cost in campus living tuition charges, book, and transportation, coupled with the decreasing funding sources for scholarships, loans, and grants financial management is no longer optional. It is required. Helping more low and moderate income Americans become homeowners is a national priority. Realizing the American Dream of owning a home, we seek to play a more important role in sharing positive information about the advantages of homeownership to our members, and help provide home ownership information that members can share within:
